(Lead Story) ‘Kisses For Breakfast' On Strand's New Menu An effervescent comedy with a novel, gay-hearted twist, is Warner Bros.’ new film, ‘‘Kisses For Breakfast,’ starring Dennis Morgan, Jane Wyatt and Shirley Ross, which bows in at the Strand Theatre next Friday. To romp through the madcap pace of the story of an amnesia victim in love with two girls, swinging from one to the other with alternate bops on the head, three popular players have gay opportunities for their talents. Dennis Morgan, whose recent fine performances have been demanding attention, is the love-torn amnesia victim. His first wife is the sparkling Shirley Ross and wife number two is the lovely Jane Wyatt. It all starts right after the Morgan-Ross wedding, when Dennis is kidnapped by an exgirl friend. She has him beaten up. Dennis’ car having gone over a cliff, circumstantial evidence points to his having been killed and his body washed to sea. But he comes to very much alive, although he can’t remember a thing. He finds a North Carolina address in his pocket, and heads South. The address belongs to Shirley’s cousin, Jane, who runs a once prosperous plantation. Dennis gets a job with her and before long makes it pay. The two fall in love and get married. They head North to attend a new wedding of Shirley’s. After a quick faint, Shirley comprehends the situation and puts a psychiatrist to work, bringing back her husband’s memory. Now he doesn’t remember Jane. In desperation, Jane knocks him out. As he regains consciousness, the girls wait breathlesly and so will you! The entertaining screen play was written by Kenneth Gamet from the play by Sey mour Hicks. Lewis Seiler di— rected. Lee Patrick and Jerome Cowan have supporting roles. Gay Pair Mat 104—15c DENNIS MORGAN and JANE WYATT in Warners’ sparkling comedy-romance, "Kisses For Breakfast", with Shirley Ross, at the Strand Theatre on Friday. Girls Battle It Out for Love In New Comedy To begin with, Jane Wyatt knocked Shirley Ross down, gagged her, dragged her around the room, and covered her with crude _ oil— face, hands, hair and negligee. Then the fight really started. In the middle of it was Dennis Morgan. He was in bed. Shirley kicked him out with a heel in the solar plexus. Morgan stumbled backward, fell over a chair. Jane seized a pillow. Shirley seized a _ pillow. They swung. Both blows landed on Morgan. Pivoting between the girls, he caught more blows, three wild left hooks to the chin from Shirley, a haymaker to the temple from Jane. When they yanked his bathrobe off and started to tear his pajama top, Dennis screamed and fled out of camera range. Hollywood’s most furious girl fight takes place in Warner Bros.’ “Kisses For Breakfast”, opening at the Strand on Friday, in which Dennis Morgan, a fortunate amnesia victim, marries both Shirley and Jane. The entertaining film has a talented supporting cast, including Lee Patrick, Jerome Cowan and Una _ O’Connor. Dennis Morgan Stars in ‘Kisses For Breakfast’ Dennis Morgan, the songless singer, cleared his throat, took a stance by the grand piano, and for the first time in five years of Hollywood picturemaking sang a song in a fulllength, Class-A feature production—Warner Bros.’ “‘Kisses For Breakfast,” which opens at the Strand on Friday. e celebrated his debut-wi two songs. Then, slightly flustered and slightly out of breath after holding his strong tenor on an authentic high C, he confessed that he had written the words to both songs to the music of Richard Strauss. Why Morgan’s truly good voice has never before been exploited is what’s known in Hollywood as “one of those things.” With a background of concert and operatic singing, Morgan was “discovered” by Mary Garden, who got him a Hollywood contract. In the film capital, he did some desultory singing in various shorts and fillers. But his real “break” was not forthcoming until he was signed to a Warner Bros. contract. At Warners’ Morgan became a leading man, acting handsomely in a series of unpretentious films, being groomed for “big things.” RKO borrowed him to play opposite Ginger Rogers in “Kitty Foyle.” Now, in “Kisses For Breakfast,” he emerges as a full-fledged star. The current film isn’t a musical. Morgan’s chief chore in it is to make love to two extraordinarily pretty girls, Shirley Ross and Jane Wyatt and see that they both stay kissed. Nevertheless, Morgan has a chance to sing his two songs, “Your Smile Awakens My Heart” and “Love I Would Sing For You.” Hilarious Twist In New Strand Comedy One of the season’s gayest comedy-romances is Warner Bros.’ hilarious new film, “Kisses For Breakfast’, opening at the Strand on Friday. Dennis Morgan portrays the man-about-town who develops amnesia when an old girl friend bops him over the head. Shirley Ross and Jane Wyatt are a couple of girls he marries in forgetful moments. Strand’s Next Is Riotous ‘Kisses For Breakfast’ Amnesia may not be very funny to its victims but it provides a riotous theme for Warner Bros.’ gay new comedy, “Kisses For Breakfast,’ which opens at the Strand Theatre next Friday. Dennis Morgan portrays the victim of the loss of memory and Jane Wyatt and Shirley Ross are a couple of girls he marries. Right after Dennis marries Shirley he’s beaten up by a jealous girl friend. His memory completely gone, he wanders South, meets and marries Jane. Soon after, she takes him to her cousin’s wedding, and the cousin turns out to be none other than Shirley, who imagines herself a widow. Shirley sics a doctor onto Dennis and the amnesia is cured. Now he doesn’t remember Jane. Jane gets angry and knocks him out. After much wild tearing about it’s Dennis himself who finds a solution as unique as the problem. To help with the merry pace is a roster of talented players including Lee Patrick, Jerome Cowan, Una O’Conner, Louise Beavers and Clarence Muse. Vincent Sherman directed the Kenneth Gamet screen play, from an original play by Seymour Hicks. Matrimonial Peace Not for Film Trio Jane Wyatt and Shirley Ross are both lovely, both in love with Dennis..Morgan. So t ever-obliging handsome, young man marries them both. It all happens because Dennis has amnesia and forgets all about having married Shirley when Jane comes into the picture. The picture is Warner Bros.’ hilariously-paced comedy-romance, “Kisses For Breakfast”, which opens at the Strand Theatre next Friday. The tale follows Dennis after he is knocked unconscious by a jealous girl-friend. A victim of amnesia, he not only forgets that he’s just married Shirley, he can’t remember her, or anything else. He heads South, where Jane enters the scene. She owns a run-down plantation. He makes the place pay, falls in love with and marries his boss. It’s when they head North and run into Shirley that things happen. Supporting the gay trio in the new film is an important list of talented players, including Lee Patrick, Jerome Cowan, Una O’Connor, Louise Beavers and Clarence Muse. The deft direction was by Lewis Seiler. Kenneth Gamet wrote the screen play, from a play by Seymour Hicks. .
