Before Dennis is accused of bigamy, it should be explained that his role is that of an amnesia victim. The breezy film is superbly cast with Jane Wyatt, beautiful and spirited actress, and Shirley Ross, bouncing and vivid personality girl, playing the wives. Top-notch supporting players include Lee Patrick, Jerome Cowan, Una O’Connor, Louise Beavers and Clarence Muse, all of whom keep the yarn spinning at a merry pace. Dennis’ first wedding, to Shirley, is hardly finished when he is whisked off by an outraged ex-girl friend, who has him beaten up. His car has turned over a cliff in the fracas, and it is assumed that he’s been killed, his body washed asea. When the unfortunate fellow comes to, he remembers noth— ing. Finding a North Carolina address on his person, he heads South. His destination reached, he finds Jane, Shirley’s cousin, whom he has never met. The girl has been running a plantation not too successfully. In a little while Dennis works miracles on both the farm and Jane, whom he marries. A socially correct length of time for mourning passed, JANE WYATT has acted in leading roles in twenty one Broadway productions and» seven motion _ pictures. Now feeling qualified to choose, Jane claims she prefers acting in films and hopes the rest of her career will be in Hollywood. The comely brunette is from an old Dutch New England family and is in the Social Register herself. Fresh from the campus of Barnard College, she found work as understudy on a Broadway play. From then on there was a succession of parts, small at first, which led up to the fine leading roles she now commands. Latest of these is “Kisses For Breakfast.” Mat 103—15c Mat 203—30c WIFE MEETS WIFE and Dennis Morgan is in the middle. He's protecting wife number two, Jane Wyatt, from wife number one, Shirley Ross, in the above scene from Warner Bros.’ sparkling comedyromance, "Kisses For Breakfast", coming to the Strand on Friday. Shirley is to be maried again. Jane and Dennis come up for the wedding. Jane can’t imagine why people just look at her husband and faint. Shirley takes the situation in hand, gets a doctor to work, cures her husband, who then fails to recognize Jane. Jane is perturbed no end and conks — And About Our Stars x DENNIS MORGAN was always an athletic fellow back in his Wisconsin # days. At Car—¢ roll College i he hit /rec* ords in track, # baseball, foot| ball and basket-ball. During vacations he worked in his father’s lumber camps in Northern Wisconsin. It was during those school days the urge to become a singer or actor was awakened. The first step was a job as singer and announcer on a small Milwaukee radio station. One-nightstand Chautauqua opera, several years of stock, vaudeville and music study followed. Currently he is one of the screen’s most promising new stars, and highly popular. Mat 101—15c him one herself. All stand around breathlessly waiting for him to come to and see which wife he’ll remember. How he straightens it all out is one of the most amusing screen situations of the season. Direction plaudits go to Vincent Sherman for the perfect handling of the clever script. SHIRLEY ROSS and her folks didn’t know what the girl was headed for me when they $ first came to Los Angeles from Omaha. The first hint came in Hollywood High School. Shirley’s high spirits and sparkling personality made her the most popular girl in a school known for its sparkling personality girls. She played leads in school plays, and kept up dramatics at U.C.L.A. Her first professional job was singing with Gus Arnheim’s band in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. It wasn’t long before one of the studios signed her. “The Big Broadcast of 1937” made her a star. She’s been going places since.
