PRODUCTION DETAILS Terry Parker (George Brent) scion of an aristocratic Philadelphia family, is flying his parents and sister to Newport when his plane crashes in a fog. All are killed except Terry, who, believing he also should have been killed, considers the rest of his life just ““velvet.’? Embittered by the tragedy, he gets into scrape after scrape from which he is extricated by his one remaining friend, Walter ‘‘Gibraltar’’ Priteham (Warren William), a business man. One evening Gibraltar takes Terry to a party where he meets Amy Prentiss (Kay Francis). They are immediately infatuated with one another, but when Terry discovers that Gibraltar loves her, he goes on a terrible drunk and lands in jail. Amy tells Gibraltar she loves Terry. Amy, seeing that life with Terry is hopeless, quits him, Terry is grounded and fined for endangering lives in a erazy air stunt. Gibraltar pays his fine and sends him to Amy. She doesn’t like his wise-cracking attitude, and when she goes to the telephone he slips out. She calls after him, believing she can’t live without him, but he drives off in Gibraltar’s cars That night Gibraltar is informed his car has been wrecked. He takes Amy to the scene where they find Terry dying. Weeks later Gibraltar asks Amy if it is possible for her to forget Terry for him. She says she has forced herself to forget him forever. Kay Franeis Kay Francis was born in Ok!ahoma City, but when. four years old her mother, Katherine Clinton, an actress, placed her in a private school at Ossining, New York. Later, she entered Cathedral School KAY FRANCIS Mat No. 2 100 in Garden City. She studied seeretarial work and became social secretary to Mrs. W. K. Vanderbilt. She also filled the same posts for Mrs. Minturn Pinchot and Mrs. Dwight W. Morrow. Mat No. 9—10c Helen Lowell Helen Lowell, a veteran of the New York stage, made her bow in talking pictures with the First National production of ‘‘Side Streets.’’ That was her first Hollywood venture although she did appear in one silent picture made in the east by D. W. Griffith, nine years ago. This was titled, ‘‘Isn’t Life Wonderful.’’ She began her stage career by playing small parts for Charles Frohman at the Empire Theatre. Sa Theatre. Warren William Warren William was born in Aitken, Minn. He always wanted to be an actor, but it wasn’t until he had served in the Engineers’ Corps of the A.E.F., and the arm WARREN WILLIAM Mat No. 4 10¢ istice had been signed that he joined a theatrical troupe, organized to tour the army camps in Europe. When he returned to America, the soldier-engineer-actor decided to find out whether lay audiences might not approve of his ability as definitely as his doughboy audiences on the other side had done. Managers inclined a favorable ear and soon Warren found himself in a road company of ‘‘I Love You.’’ A season in stock ensued, then Broadway gave him a chance in Rachel Crothers’ “« Expressing Willie.’? Even before the war, his father had been set on having Warren become a newspaper man, but his son’s increasing success as an actor finally induced the older man to bestow his approval on his efforts. After graduating from: Seton Hall, he decided to try his luck on the stage, having appeared in various amateur and college productions since he was twelve years of age. After many discouragements, he was given a minor role with a Newark, N. J. stock company and one engagement led to another, until he felt he was ready to try Broadway. His first role there was with the John Ferguson Theatre Guild. He clicked with Broadway’s theatre-goers and for many years was one of the most popular stage actors.
