Warner Comedy Coming To The Strand On Friday (Advance Theatre Story) “Love and Learn,” co-starring Jack Carson, Robert Hutton, Martha Vickers and Janis Paige, is the new Warner Bros.’ film scheduled to begin an engagement at the Strand Theatre this Friday. The picture, a whimsical story of two songwriters’ struggle for recognition, tells the humorous tale of Jingles Collins (Jack Carson) and Bob Grant (Robert Hutton) and their involvement with a woman who lied her way into their hearts and into a great deal of laughable trouble for everyone concerned. Masquerading Heiress Based on an original story by Harry Sauber, the film presents two talented tunesmiths, Collins and Grant, who just haven’t been able to get their music published. Bob becomes depressed and decides to return to Sperryville, Indiana. With Jingles’ girl friend, Jackie Madden (Janis Paige), Bob and Jingles go to Danceland to celebrate Bob’s last night in town. While at the dance hall they meet and become friendly with a Barbara “Smith” who in reality is Barbara Wyngate (Martha Vickers), daughter of tycoon Andrew Wyngate (Otto Kruger), merely posing as a hostess to break the monotony of her dull life. Barbara rents an apartment under her assumed name, and is forced to tell of a shabby life, and a series of other lies, to prevent her new friends from learning her real identity. Misunderstanding and doubting her love, Bob leaves for Sperryville. Brought back to New York on a ruse of Jingles’, a riotous situation evolves when Barbara’s true identity is revealed, just before she is to marry a dull socialite.
