(Advance-Reader) SONGS, COMEDY ACCENT WARNERS’ NEW FILMUSICAL Loaded with talent and tunes, “My Dream Is Yours,” a Michael Curtiz Production for Warner Bros., starring Doris Day, Jack Carson and Lee Bowman, opens tomorrow at the Strand Theatre. Filmed in Technicolor. this new musical displays Curtiz’ wide versatility in screen entertainment. Some of his hits are “Casablanca,” “Night and Day,” “This Is The Army,” “Mildred Pierce,” and many others, each production in a different vein. “My Dream Is Yours” Mas four new Harry Warren-Ralph Blane songs in addition to a wealth of familiar established hits which are drafted into use for the rich musical frame which Ray Heindorf has steered. LeRoy Prinz is responsible for the dancing stanzas. Besides the trio of stars, Adolphe Menjou, Eve Arden, S. Z. “Cuddles” Sakall, Selena Royle, Ada Leonard and an allgirl orchestra and Frankie Carle and his piano are also prominent. Doris Day who skyrocketed to film prominence with her singing of “It’s Magic” in “Romance On The High Seas,” carries most of the singing assignments in the new offering. JACK CARSON NOT TICKLISH Ticklish young people have little chance for success in Hollywood, thinks Jack Carson, who isn’t. They can’t play love scenes without squirming, he suggests, if the lady’s hair loosens enough to touch his neck or if his mustache accidentally brushes her ear while he is moving: it in the general direction of a screen kiss. “There is nothing—but nothing—” suggests Mr. Carson, “so destructive to the. mood of screen love as the soft-voiced complaint of the partner who says, ‘You tickle’.” One possible reason for the reteaming of Carson and Doris Day by Producer-director Michael Curtiz in “My Dream Is Yours” for Warner Bros, release, is that this pair were tried out in love scenes before in “Romance on the High Seas” and. while both players were pleased, neither, apparently, was tickled. No giggles either. Old. New Songs In Warner Hit Songs, old and new, highlight Warner’ Bros.’ ‘My Dream Is Yours,” with pert Doris Day in charge of the delivery. Harry Warren and Ralph Blane provided “My Dream Is Yours,” “Love Finds A Way,” “Someone Like You,” “Tick Tick Tick,” and Blane put lyries to “Canadian Capers,” and to Franz Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody” under the tite of “Freddie Get Ready.” Songs revived are: “Pil String Along With You,” “September in the Rain” and “Nagasaki.” (General Advance Story) NEWSPAPER COPY ec ADVANCE READERS.
