JACK CARSON NOT TICKLISH Ticklish young people have little chance for success in Hollywood, thinks Jack Carson, who isn’t. They can’t play love scenes without squirming, he suggests, if the lady’s hair loosens enough to touch his neck or if his mustache accidentally brushes her ear while he is moving: it in the general direction of a screen kiss. “There is nothing—but nothing—” suggests Mr. Carson, “so destructive to the. mood of screen love as the soft-voiced complaint of the partner who says, ‘You tickle’.” One possible reason for the reteaming of Carson and Doris Day by Producer-director Michael Curtiz in “My Dream Is Yours” for Warner Bros, release, is that this pair were tried out in love scenes before in “Romance on the High Seas” and. while both players were pleased, neither, apparently, was tickled. Produced and_ directed by Michael Curtiz for Warner Bros., the new film tells the story of a radio talent huckster, played by Carson, who introduces a sparkling new songbird, Doris Day, on the airwaves. With this situation and this cast, which includes also Adolphe Menjou, Eve Arden and S. Z. “Cuddles” Sakall, Strand patrons are in for some fast comedy and lively music. Production values are high, what with the eminent director Michael Curtiz at the controls and the Warner studio going all out to give the Technicolor film the same high type entertainment elements as some of the other big musical films which came out of the Burbank, Cal., lot in the last few years. Actual equipment .including’ a battery of 86 turntables, was secured from a West Coast firm, and is a duplicate of the ones used in similar stations throughout the country today. To authenticate its operation, as well as coach Doris Day in playing a turn-table operator capable of handling 16 record players, Warners’ employed a Los Angeles expert in this field to act as technical adviser.
