Joan Blondell, Natalie Moorehead, Virginia Sale and Daisy Belmore are the newer players in the picture. Charles Kenyon prepared the screen play and dialogue. STRAND DANIELS BEN LYON and LEWIS STONE _ Last night’s audience at the.... Theatre gave enthusiastic evidence of their appreciation of Bebe Daniels in’ the title role of the strangely fas-— cinating story of the loves of a famous actress. The applause was not alone for the lovely star of “Rio Rita,” but for husky Ben Lyon ee made such a furore in “Hell’s Angels,” | and for Lewis Stone, whose poise and strength has made him the favorite of fandom everywhere. These two men are cast as business partners and inseparable friends. | The older man had loved Doree for years and it is only when the youth appears on the scene that he knows that his long pursuit of love is useless. The younger man has a gallivanting wife, strikingly portrayed by Natalie Moorehead. Returning from abroad, she finds her husband and the alluring Doree together, and gladly takes 1t as an excuse to zo back to Paris for the divorce which will free her to marry another man. When the younger man finds that his friend loves WVoree, he himself goes, leaving her to grieve in secret. ‘hen begins the real story which climbs steadily to an affecting climax. “My Past” is sensational, moving and sincere and should be placed on your list of plays that must be seen. There is a sincerity about the acting of each of the characters in “My Past” that makes it especially moving. Lewis Stone, in the part of the older man, who discovers at last that his longing for the love of a younger woman, for the love which he com Imandad and made victarigus in earlier years, must be cast aside—does a character portrayal which is not exceeded by any of the roles which he j;has made memorable in other plays and pictures. He manages to give up the thing he wants most in life and to keep his friendship for the youth who takes it as his own. It is like the gesture of the clown who, seeing himself supplanted by his son, cries, “The king is dead. Long live the king.” ‘Ben Lyon, @s the young man whose lusty youth ¢ ptures the heart of the woman who: wishes to be true to her older love, puts the same feeling of reality i iis portrayal. One can see how 7 he grieves to appear ‘ an who has proved himself such a true friend. And when at an Thornley sails away leaving e | Bob together on the shore —t ere ie & rue note of sorrow in the joy ‘which has come to them without their willing, Bebe Daniels’ performance deeply beautiful—it lays bare a soul torn between past happiness and the desire for present and future realization. “My Past” is a picture to be remembered.
