IT’S “NEVER TOO LATE”!
¢ Hold a father-and-son photo contest for the oldest father and the youngest son, or for the best-looking father and son. Prizes can be passes, records of the theme song, or an Avis or Greyhound prize which you can promote. Hang the contest photos in the lobby and try to get your paper to print the pictures of the winners.
e Promote a tie-up with a local diaper company whereby they put a ‘NEVER TOO LATE’ band on their packages of diapers. This is a natural for a co-op ad around the theme: ‘It’s Never Too Early But It's Sometimes Too Late To Order Diapers From The ............ Diaper Company.”
e Have an elderly man with a long beard, or an usher dressed like one, wheel a ‘NEVER TOO LATE?’ baby-carriage on the streets. Include sign with playdate information.
e Arrange for a local deejay to hold a contest whereby the person who sends in the longest list of songs with the word “‘baby”’ in the title would win a Vic Damone ‘NEVER TOO LATE’ record, passes to the movie or other prizes. A switch on this one would be to play the ‘baby’ songs and have listeners guess the titles, for prizes.
e Set up a series of co-op ads using the slogan, “It’s Never Too Late fo ship SF: ;.....5.... store.”” Hang a ‘NEVER TOO LATE’ scroll listing participating merchants in the theatre lobby. Start first with stores that sell the merchandise seen in the picture, i.e., layettes, lumber, plumbing, supplies, etc.
e Using stills of Maureen O'Sullivan crossing the street, or Paul Ford caught in traffic, tie-up with your city traffic department or the police department for signs on light-poles or traffic signs, using the slogan: ‘It’s Never Too Late For Safe Driving.’’ Try to get a ‘NEVER TOO LATE’ safe driving contest going with a city department or the chamber of commerce.
e Arrange with a local private ambulance service to offer a free trip to the hospital for any man in the audience who suddenly finds him
self an overage father. Place a display announcing this in your lobby and use appropriate copy in newspaper ads.
e Contact travel agencies and have them display posters, stills or window cards with the theme: “‘It’s Never Too Late For a Trip to New England,”’ since the story of the film ends there. Try for a co-op ad on this one.
¢ Using stills of Maureen O'Sullivan before and after getting a beauty shop treatment, tie-up with a local beauty parlor for a co-op ad or window display with playdate copy and the message: “‘It’s Never Too Late To Get Our Beauty Treatment.”
e Arrange with a record shop to set up a window featuring Vic Damone releases, with the ‘NEVER TOO LATE’ disc taking center place in the display of records.
e Arrange for a ‘NEVER TOO LATE’ charity bazaar with your church or other local charity. The theme can be: “It’s Never Too Late To Help Support The Blind,” or some similar theme. You can donate passes to the film to be used as give-aways. Try for a theatre party on this one. The charity can sell the tickets for somewhat advance prices, if they like.
