SLIDE HAS TEASER COPY
Would be inexpensive to make up a teaser slide, with “Watch out for Public Enemy’s Wife,” lettered in scary type. Shoot slide on screen a few times each performance — after trailer, after feature, after each short, etc... so that patrons will begin to wonder about it.
STILL DISPLAY IN LOBBY
An interesting lobby could be arranged by exhibiting exciting stills from film in a 40” x 60” frame — with caption. . . ‘Exclusive Last-minute Photos of the Notorious Public Enemy’s Wife.”
RADIO SPOT PLUGS
Following short radio spot announcements, adapted from the ad copy, can be used every hour or so during run of picture. Here are a number of ’em. If you want any more, read the ads, change the copy a bit for the radio audience, and then let ’em have it:

GUARDS AT THEATRE

One or two armed guards, as shown here, could stand in front of theatre, alongside sign which reads: “‘We are here to protect the citizens of Utica from the Public Enemy’s Wife.” They could also walk the streets with sandwich signs.
BALLY FOR POLICE CAR
You could rig up an auto to resemble a police car. Attach an amplifier and have two men in uniform travel around busy streets all day, barking through amplifier in imitation of police announcement. Here’s their spiel: “‘Be on the lookout for Public Enemy’s Wife. It’s at the Strand all this week. Be on the lookout for Public Enemy’s Wife.”
TEASING BEFORE TRAILER
Following stunt can be put on before trailer to tease folks into mood of the picture! Before trailer flashes on have house go dark — then follow with a woman's loud scream — and then have the woman go dashing down aisle, followed by a man in uniform, who yells, ‘Stop that woman — she’s a public enemy’s wife.”’ You arrange it so that woman just about makes stage when this is yelled — to be sure that no one gets to stopping her. By this time all the lights in theatre go on and patrons see policeman shoot blank cartridge gun, woman falls on stage, cop grabs her — and then house lights go off and trailer pops on.
‘HUNT’ OVER P. A. SYSTEM
You could use your P.A. system to entertain passers with news of the day — spieled by one of your ushers. Announcements go on every half hour, with lad spieling headlines from papers and then breaking in after each item with — “By special request, we take this means and opportunity to warn you that a famous Public Enemy’s Wife is headed this way. Be on the lookout for Public Enemy’s Wife.

Enlarged fingerprints could be mounted on lobby board, with folks asked to figure out which one matches print of ‘Public Enemy’s Wife.”’ Police Department may cooperate by loaning you the necessary blow-ups.

To make this teaser campaign as farreaching as possible, be sure to get plenty of heralds and tack cards around town — which play up this angle.
