It would be better for all women who cannot live up to the new sophisticated dresses to eschew them and keep to the simple.” Marian is militant also on the idea that the gingham dress type of woman should not be ashamed of possessing a strong penchant toward matters domestic. She believes that many a woman’s place really is in the home, and specifically in the kitchen. “The kitchen motif really can be delightful—and of course man at bottom likes the girl who is happiest around the stove. Theatre, was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and educated in Pittsburgh, Pa. attended American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. His first stage role was in For Marian Theatre, but one Well” at Lyric Theatre. This was fo lowed by parts in a series of dramatic productions on the New York stage and four years in stock companies in Pittsburgh, Portland, Oregon, Detroit, Buffalo, Northampton and Boston. Later he was featured with such productions as “Within the Law, ” “Going Up,” and “Spanish Love.” During an interval between stage engagements, Albert Parker, the motion picture director, obtained for Powell a role in ‘Sherlock Holmes,” a Metro production. They had various accomplishments but Rosy, number two, had the better recording squeal.
