Following are a number of tie-ups for which special stills have been prepared by the Warner exploitation forces. These window displays should carry tie-up cards to the effect that “William Powell in ‘The Road to Singapore’ is one of the best dressed men on the screen. You can be one of the best dressed men in town if you buy your furnishings at our store.” Lobby Ballyhoo “The Road to Singapore” is laid in the tropics. With a little ingenuity you can make your lobby the most talked of item. in your campaign. Go in for the tropical ballyhoo in a big way. See if your local florist will loan you some palm plants to place around the lobby. Convert your Box Office into a thatched hut similar to those used by natives in tropical countries. Coconuts are inexpensive. Get a box of them and strew them around the lobby. Run streamers across your lobby with ferns or some other kind of foliage dangling from them. It would also be advisable to dress up a couple of ushers as natives and have them beating tom toms in the outer lobby. Have him stencil every important street and intersection. Essay Contest As “Road to Singapore” is a story of a neglected wife, you have an|; excellent chance to arouse certain interest from married couples by runuing in your local paper in essay contest on “Are neglected wives justified in seeking happiness with others.” Readers of the newspaper should answer in not more than three hundred words. While the winning essay will be judged solely on merit (not on side taken) it would be interesting for people to see approximate stand on this question.
