(Advance Story—Plant 6 Days Before)
Miss Dorothy Mackaill who will be seen 2 605% next: atthe. 6.433 Theatre in “Safe in Hell,” her latest First National starring vehicle, has an insatiable longing for the sea. Maybe it is because she was born in the Right Little Tight Little Isle, all shores are washed by the ocean. Her liking for ships and things could not bave been augmented on the day she crossed the storm Channell on her way to Paris—a dancer in the chorus of the London Hippodrome act which was being transferred to the city of gaiety.
More probably it began when she made her personally-conducted trip across the Atlantic, to successfully crash Broadway and land herself in the ‘‘Follies.” Whatever the source of her wanderlust, she says she 1s never so happy as when outward bound. Hawaii is her favorite destination. She left the hypnotic island on a hurry call to Hollywood last summer, and when she found that the filming had been delayed—she at once sailed back again.
Ten days before completion of the filming of ‘Safe in Hell’ Miss Dorethy was making plans for a trip to Havana. With a month at her disposal she said she chose Cuba because it gave her three weeks at sea.
Miss Mackaill’s role in “Safe in Hell” is the most dramatic of her career. She plays the part of Gilda, a servant girl betrayed by her employer—cast into the streets—and finally left by her sailor lover on an island inhabited by desperadoes. The inevitably tragic ending is not avoided—providing a tremendous climax for the drama.
Don Cook plays romantic lead. Others in the cast are Victor, Morgan Wallace, Ralf Harolde, Ivan Simpson, John Wray, Nina Mae McKinney, Gustav von Seyffertitz,
Cecil Cunningham, Charles Middle
