NOEL MADISON CLAIMS FAMOUS RELATIVES
When Noel Madison entered the world, thirty-one years ago by way of New York, there was no question in the minds of his family as to what he would be when he grew up. Spurning the future presidency, they intended him to be an actor. And an actor he has always been.
The reason for this certainty is not far to seek. The father of the
talented thespian, who makes his film debut in “Sinners’ Holiday,” the Warner Bros. and Vitaphone production now playing at the ........ Theatre, was Maurice Moscovitch, a famous member of the old Moscow Art Theatre group under Dentchen
ko and Stanislavsky, and one of the.
most sensational Shylocks ever seen in London. A brother, Maaskoff, is an internationally-known violinist.
It was quite natural, then, that Noel should have the unusual distinction of beginning his career, at the age of sixteen, in the memorable Charlot’s revue at the Prince of Wales Theatre, London. His first screen appearance comes as a fitting climax after fifteen years of experience in every theatrical field, ineluding Shakespeare, melodrama, comedy, vaudeville, farce and musical comedy.
Madison is one of the most travel
led of actors, having resided in Eng-}
land, Australia, South Africa, Switzerland and France, Although born in America and educated in England, France and Switzerland, he ealls Auckland, New Zealand his home.
Consistently true to his first and only love, the stage, Madison’s ambition is to have a theatre of his own. A great reader, his hobby is collecting old prints. He counts walking among his favorite pas

Garrick, in New York, the next year, in the same part. In 1908 she played the part of Minerva Ringler “The Easterner,’ at the same theatre. She was at the Astor the next year in “Seven Days” and subsequently starred as Aunt Watkins in “The Rejuvenation of Aunt Mary” and as Katherine Wetherell in “Mother.”
In 1911 she appeared as Ann Boyd in her own adaptation of a play by the same name, from the novel. Five years later at the Hudson, she played the Great She-Bear in “The Cinderella Man”; at the Broadhurst in 1920, Elzevir Nesbitt in “Come Seven”; at the Eltinge in 1921, Lottie in “Back Pay”; at the Maxine Elliott in 1922, Magnolia in “The Goldfish” and “On the Stairs.” In 1923 she played Ayah in “East of Suez.”
Her appearance at the Provincetown Theatre, New York in May, 1923 marked another tremendcus success ag the Widow Cagle in “Sun Up,” which ran on until 1924 at the Lenox Hill and Princess Theatres. She appeared at the Vaudeville in London in May, 1925 in the same part and continued to play it in America until 1927.
