Drawing Contest
Dallas O’Mara, an important character in the story of ‘‘So Big’’ is an artist. Bette Davis plays the part.
In keeping with this character, you can stage a drawing contest. Place an_ enlarged photograph of Barbara Stanwyek. (in character) in the lobby of your theatre and announce the contest and prizes. Your sereen should also advertise it.
Suggest you tie up with a local art school and supply them with stills of Barbara Stanwyek for copying in their classes. Other contestants _ should be encouraged through your local newspaper which should also print the same picture of Miss Stanwyck for copying purposes.
If you make a three way tieup — art school — newspaper— and yourself, it will solve the problem of judges ... one from the school, one from the newspaper and your theatre manager.
Prizes should be promoted from local merchants who will benefit greatly by the newspaper and screen publicity.
Havwe You Noticed.. The smart heralds being turned out on First National and Warner Pictures? They’ve got the pep of an ingenious novelty — the attention getting quality of a twenty-four sheet and the direct selling appeal of a trailer. See them at your local exchange!

Shoe Stunt
The following tie-up requires the aid of your local shoe store, which should be very easy to secure, because of
‘the tremendous advertising
value of this stunt.
In the lobby of your theatre place an exceptionally small sized lady’s shoe and a very large sized man’s shoe. Offer the shoes free of charge to the person they perfectly fit. An explanatory card should be prominently displayed :
If your foot is SO BIG
you can have these shoes free of charge
At the right of this display, display a sign announcing the engagement of Barbara Stanwyck in ‘‘So Big.’’ On the left should be a card giving credit to the shoe dealer with whom you have cooperated. Facilities for trying on the shoes should be arranged.
Undoubtedly, the shoe store will do their bit in helping this stunt with window displays and herald distribution.
This idea is good for several newspaper stories, aS well as a published photograph of the | winners. Publicize this stunt well in advance in order to create as much interest in it as possible.
The above idea can be enlarged to inelude odd_ size shirts, top coats, hats, ete.
