All Rights Reserved Grandpa Leeds, on a forty-eighthour leave from the Soldiers’ Home, comes to visit his daughter and her family. They are not too pleased to see the tippling old boy, who still wears his Civil War uniform and talks about General Grant and the Battle of the Wilderness. As the family are at dinner, a shot is heard, and eight-year-old Donny runs to the window and screams that two automobiles are firing at each other. All rush to the window to watch the duel. Two men jump from one car and start running, when a huge man in a yellow raincoat fires from the other auto and kills them. Two more step out and, hearing a police siren, rush into the Leeds home. They are followed by police, but escape. District Attorney Whitlock convinces the Leeds family that it is their duty to identify the killer as 1] Maxey Campo, a notorious gang :|leader. The next day, Pa Leeds is captured on his way to the office, :|taken to a loft and beaten up. The :| Leeds house is put under guard and :| Pa Leeds is found in a ditch, bad:|ly broken in mind and body. Lit|| tle Donny, wishing to play ball with his gang, sneaks out of the house and is kidnapped. The Leeds family gets word that if they testify against Campo, Donny will be killed. All refuse to divulge what they know on the day of the trial, except Grandpa.
