EXPLOITATION BALLYING WITH THE TITLE
Tie Up Stores With ‘Holiday’ Catchlines
DEPARTMENT STORE could be influenced to de| vote some of their window space to vacation outfits. Copy might read: “What the well-dressed woman will wear on her Stolen Holiday.’ Of course the showing should include a number of scenes from the picture. |
LUGGAGE SHOP could make a very effective display built around copy angle: “Luggage to take on your Stolen Holiday.” Stills SH. 97, SH. 98, and SH. 100 are especially suitable for use in such a tie-up.
BUS COMPANY may be able to make use of line: “Take that Stolen Holiday with our bus line at any time and enjoy a ‘Stolen Holiday’ with Kay Francis at the Strand.”
TRAVEL AGENCIES should be interested in using title in their ad copy and window displays. Furnish them with plenty of stills (and blow-ups if possible).
LOCAL NIGHT SPOTS could help you put across the title. Suggest that they inaugurate a “Stolen Floliday Evening.” Perhaps a special dinner at one of the hotels or after theatre entertainment could be sold with a few plugs for your show. Copy might be: “Take your best girl out for a Stolen H oliday.”
TIE-UP STILLS of Ian Hunter and Claude Rains to be used for the following shops are available: Flat Shop — RAINS. 20; Pipe Shop — RAINS. 57; Men’s Clothing — IH. 20.

TWO ON A STOLEN HOLIDAY
Tie up with your local newspaper to run a search for a correctly attired couple on a Stolen Holiday. The rules are: Anyone looking for the boy and girl on a Stolen Holiday must carry a current copy of the paper with them and approach the persons they believe to be the hunted couple and say: “You are on a Stolen Holiday,” for whose capture the (name of paper) offers a complete man’s (or woman’s) outfit.” Each day the paper runs a by-line story by the couple on a Stolen Holiday giving their experiences of the day before. Have paper run teaser pictures of couple walking away from camera with caption, “Here they are. You find them.”
NOVEL DISPLAY
A simple lobby display could be constructed with a large standee of Kay Francis holding a balance scale. In each scale-pan place a figure of Ian Hunter and Claude Rains, the two men in her life. Attach scale to a small hidden motor causing figures to oscillate.
FORTUNES READ
A fortune teller plays an important role in “Stolen Holiday.” All of which suggests a fortune teller planted in your lobby or foyer during the week in advance or current.
STREET BALLY
Boy and girl attired in a very extreme type of fashion and carrying a great number of hand bags plastered with colorful resort stickers would make a good street bally. Properly outfitted with signs, “We're on our way to a ‘Stolen Holiday’ at the Strand.”
WANT AD TEASER
A few lines in lost and found section might be worked in this manner: “Lost, strayed or Stolen Holiday. For information apply to Strand Theatre. No questions asked.”
