Printed on 5M—$3.50 per M Auto Raee For the exploitation of “Taxi!” an exhibitor recently staged an auto race for cars of not more than $50.00 value. This is the way it was done: A tie-up was made with the classified section of a local newspaper and also with the town’s leading secondhand ear dealer. For four days prior to the staging of the contest, the newspaper carried stories announcing the details and prizes. At a designated time the cars were lined up at a place suitable for staging the race and the auto dealer estimated their value. Any car over $50.00 was not allowed to enter the contest. This contest proved an exceptional success, inasmuch as not only the newspapers were on hand to take photographs of it, but the exhibitor had a movie camera recording the complete race and this film proved an additional drawing power at his theatre. If you conduct this race, have the cars properly bannered and parade through the town on their way to the race track. After the race they can return and remain in front of the theatre as an outdoor attraction. Be sure to give this contest plenty of notice on your screen and in your lobby. Seldom does any newspaper or second hand dealer get a chance to put on a publicity campaign of this nature and you will find their cooperation very easy to secure. 239 WEST 39th STREET CATCHLINES It’s a matter of life — and Death...
