They were constructed by Campaign Plan ; Manager a crew of Warner technicians and conceived by Danny Lee, special effects expert, and Ferdie Carrere, art director, both of whom are seen in the Wa rner Bros. The black car was developed to parallel the black character Jack Lemmon portrays in “The Great Race.” It has a cannon to mow 666 Fifth Avenue down enemies, a nose-cone to melt snow and ice, a smokescreen to cause confusion, and it rises 12 feet in the air to enable escape, The New York 19, N. \ white car, made to suit the white spirit of Tony Curtis in the film, is simply a gorgeous, luxurious phaeton.
