| BS 4 Bros’ Campaign Plan ‘HORN-BLOWERS JUMP SESSION’ WILL HEADLINE YOUR PREMIERE Enlist the cooperation of local music schools, high school and college music departments, Y.M.C.A.’s, etc. in sponsoring a “Horn-Blowers Jump Session” to be held at your theatre on opening night. SET IT UP THIS WAY: Newspaper stories and lobby-distributed broadsides announce a contest to find the hottest trumpet player in your town. Heralds, plugging the picture, can also serve as entry blanks. These should be made obtainable through as wide a source as possible — your own box-office, schools, community organizations, music departments in local stores, record shops, etc. Each competing school or organization should choose its own winner in preliminary contests beginning about one month in advance of your opening. At the finals—the "Horn-Blowers Jump Session," to be held on your stage opening night—winners will be chosen by the audience from among the competing winners of the preliminaries. Offer War Bond prizes of optional denomination to the three best trumpeters. The stunt lends itself to unlimited exploitation possibilities. Newspaper coverage on preliminaries should keep the contest alive for at least a month in advance of your opening. Radio coverage should be arranged for the Jump Session itself and also for subsequent guest appearances on local radio band shows of the three contest winners. Teaser Ads Pre-sell Title Spot these four teasers either individually (one a day) for four days in advance of your opening, or else all four, run-ofpaper, on opening day with a slug at the bottom directing the reader to your regular display ad in the amusement columns.
