| etiledigeee lated by endless public appearances, Prince Henry (Dennis Morgan), Balkan potentate visiting in America, decides to take twenty-four hours leave from public life to find out for himself what Americans are really like. He eludes his aide, Count Oswald (S. Z. Sakall) and strikes up an acquaintance with a cabby, Buzz (Jack Carson). To conceal his identity, Henry says he is from Milwaukee. “Me, too,” says Buzz and the two become immediate friends.
High and feeling good from too many “boilermakers,” they finally appear at the Flatbush home of Buzz’s sister, Nan (Rosemary DeCamp) and her eight-year-old daughter, Peggy (Patti Brady).
Next morning, a frantic Nan identifies Henry as the missing Prince pictured on the front page of the
morning paper. To avoid being recognized by the police, Henry decides to shave his mustache. At the barber shop, Buzz introduces Henry to his girl, Connie (Joan Leslie), a manicurist and her girl friend, Polly (Janis Paige).
Trying to be sociable, Buzz suggests that Connie and Henry spend a day together taking in the sights of New York. Their friendly feeling for each other develops into a warm glow and Buzz decides he must fight for Connie’s love. He has it out with Henry in Connie’s tiny kitchen. The FBI, however, who had been on the Prince’s trail since his disappearance from the train, finally catch up with their quarry and Prince Henry is dragged back to his royal suite.
Later that evening, Henry is scheduled to make a radio address to his people on the eve of their
plebiscite. In the studio, unaware that they are already on the air, Henry and Buzz discuss the blessings of American democracy. Buzz becomes a homespun hero and is proclaimed by all. Henry, however, learns that Buzz’s campaign talk has lost him a throne for his people have voted for a republic. Now he can live like a human being and marry Connie.
A wild ride in Buzz’s cab results in an injury to Connie. When she regains consciousness, Connie relates her dream to a doctor who deduces that she really loves Buzz.
In the meantime, plain Hank and Ozzie are at the airport ready to board a plane that will take them to a job in Milwaukee. Sadly they climb aboard and Hank seats himself beside a beautiful girl. It is lovely Lauren Bacall. More than that no man can ask for and Henry smiles as he begins his new life.
Here's the story of "Two Guys From Milwaukee" told with the emphasis on the laughs and the lovin’. It's a popular type newspaper feature, but can also be used in reprint form as window poster,
with masthead reading, "Flash From Hollywood." In latter case add theatre credits below mat.
