What You Should Know About
Marian Marsh in “Under Eighteen”
The Story
(A Brief Synopsis)
Marge Evans, seventeen, a flower of the tenements, vaguely longs for love and luxury while meagerly supporting her widowed mother and herself by working in a fashionable modiste shop. Urged by an older sister to help her raise money for a divorce, Marge appeals without success to her own workingman sweetheart, Jimmie. Determined to get the money at any sacrifice, she goes impulsively to Raymond, a rich play boy, arriving in the midst of a wild party. Raymond, touched by the girl’s innocence, is warning her against her foolhardiness, when Jimmie comes in a rage. Marge refuses to leave with her lover, but returns to her own home alone later, in tears. Jimmie manages to get the money and is handing it over to Marge when a messenger comes from Raymond with a check and his best wishes for their happiness.
