D. 216 ud BABY RUTH CANDY yp. 217 Lobby Display The general scheme of your lobby should be to sell the love interest of ‘Union Depot’’ rather than the railroad angle. Avoid the use of railroad terms, railroad signs, and general railroad ballyhoo. A light suggestion of the railroad atmosphere such as a red and green color scheme with alternating spot lights, will do no harm, but do not, in any way EMPHASIZE the railroad background. For illustration use love scenes of Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., and Joan. Blondell,. individual star photos of Fairbanks and Blondell, and the general %Union Depot crowds such as illustrated on the twenty-four sheet and in the two column and three column ad slugs in this Merchandising Plan. Whenever you use the crowd illustration, use the line ‘‘Terminal of Life’s Every Emotion’ or “You'll Meet The Strangest People In Union Depot.” Your lobby is a vitally important selling medium and should be given plenty of thought. The ad stills and accessories offer many unusual ideas that will make your lobby doubly effective. DON’T suggest any railroads in your campaign. “Union Depot’’ is NOT a railroad drama, but a tense romance with a touch of the mysterious. The depot is merely the background against which this story is enacted! DON’T use “Stop, Look and Listen” signs or imitation engines in your lobby. DON’T use any railroad terms like “express” action ‘20th Century”’ comedy, etc., etc., in your ad copy. Taxi Tie-Up Arrange with your local taxi companies to insert signs in their cabs reading as follows:— The driver of this cab will take you carefully to UNION DEPOT, now playing at the isons idee Sond ESOS Theatre with Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., and Joan Blondell.
