THE STORY (Not for publication): Belle Andrews (Constance Bennett) accepts Harry Farrel’s (Warren William) offer to go out to Montana and open a gambling house after her place is razed in the great Chicago fire. Farrel has a neat scheme for taking over the rich cattle country around Powder River. On the way out, the train is held up and Belle gets a chance to admire the way the bandits are put to rout by one of her fellow passengers, Wild Bill Hickok (Bruce Cabot). Hickok is also en route to Powder River where his friend Nolan (Russell Hicks) a rancher and their mutual ward, little Janey (Betty Brewer ) live. It is Nolan’s ranch which Farrel is particularly Four anxious to get hold of, and when he can’t get it any other way Farrel gets him on a framed murder charge, but Nolan Cowgirls is lynched before sentence is passed on him. Hickok sets out to avenge his friend, and formulates a plan with the other ranchers to save Nolan’s property for Janey, the rightful Spread The heiress. The ranchers agree to pool all their cattle and sell them in order to pay off the mortgage. But Farrel learns of their plan, and plots to blow up a dam just above the Valley where the cattle have been rounded up. Belle hastens to warn Hickok and Janey. Hickok gets to the dam to find Farrel and his men at work planting the dynamite. The two men grapple in a death struggle and Farrel falls to his death. The dam goes up in a mighty explosion, but the ranchers have had time to get the cattle to safety. Powder River settles down to the business of rebuilding, Belle goes back to Chicago. Bill Hickok watches her go, then gallops off into the distance, bound for more adventure. Good News!
