Nov. 4 — Joseph Schenck names Lewis Milestone as production head of United Artists, replacing Sam Coldwyn who returns to independent production. Nov. 18 — Edward R. Tinker named president of Fox Film Corp., succeeding Harley L. Clarke, who becomes chairman of the Board. Dec. 4 — H. B. Franklin resigns as president of the Hughes-Franklin Theatres. Dec. 9 — William Canavan resigns as lATSE president; William Elliott succeeding him. 1932 Jan. 1 5 — Skouras Brothers take over Fox West Coast Theatres. Jan. 21 — Sidney R. Kent forced out as vice-president and general manager of Paramount. Feb. 24 — Joseph I. Schnitzer resigns as president of RKO Studios with Hiram Brown, RKO president, taking over temporarily. Feb. 27 — Joe Brandt sells out interest in Columbia to Jack and Harry Cohn. March 1 — Adolph Zukor remains as Paramount president; Sam Katz heads theatres. March 14 — Sidnev R. Kent becomes general manager of Fox Film Corp. April 13 — M. H. Aylesworth new president of RKO, succeeding Hiram Brown; shortly before B. B. Selznick resigns as production head of RKO Studios with Merian C. Cooper taking over. March 3 — Bank holiday declared by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. April 1 5 — Darryl Zanuck resigns as associate production head at Warner Bros, studio. April 19 — Darryl Zanuck and Joseph Schenck form new company, named 20th Century on April 27, with United Artists release. July 22 — Sound men, local 695 lATSE, go on strike.
