Page 40 Projection Engineering, June, 1930 IbFor Better Talkies... at Lower Costs UDDEN starting of projectors causes excessive film breakage. Also excessive strain on projector mechanism. You cannot afford film breakage during the show. It means inconvenience, lost time, and, most important of all, a dissatisfied public and a serious loss of business. Furthermore, excessive projector wear and tear means premature replacements. The usual fixed resistors employed for projector starting are not satisfactory. They fail to compensate for the "wearing in" of the machine and for other conditions that may vary from time to time. And they frequently fail to stand up under constant use. Many starting resistors must be replaced — with inconvenience, lost time, cost, and general dissatisfaction. And so the solution of a grave "talkie" problem lies in the form of the SOUND PROJECTION STARTING BOX rL4R05TA Positively indispensable. Comprises a starter box proper, mounted on wall, together with special three-position snap switch for "Start", "Run" and "Off." Switch mounted in place of usual starting switch on projector. Starter box amply ventilated. Knock-out holes for BX or conduit wiring. Two bakelite covers protect two adjusting screws which, by means of ordinary screwdriver, are turned to secure exact rate of acceleration for proper starting. Correct resistance values are obtained and maintained at all times. Resistor replacements are eliminated. The device will pay for itself many times over in a short time, in less film breakage, saving of time and trouble, no resistor replacements, less servicing of projector, longer projector life, and satisfied patrons. THIS INDISPENSABLE AID TO BETTER PROJECTION WILL PAY FOR ITSELF. Actually, it costs you nothing. Just give it an opportunity to pay for itself and it will then continue to repay you for your wise investment! WR1TF ^or ^ata on ^1S incusPensable a'^ to better " I*■■,• * *-* projection.
