Knowing she could not win him, Barbara revenged herself by disappearing after arranging circumstances to make it seem that Ellen had murdered her. 9. Agonizing months followed, as Ellen tried to clear herself of a crime that had never been committed. Eventually the truth emerged; Barbara was found and declared insane.
