TELEVISION FILM EXECUTIVES ^ ^ ^ WILLIAM VAN PRAGG, head of Van Pragg Productions, produces and directs both film commercials and features for television. From a start in the industry as manager of a theatre, Van Praag got into advertising via a promotional scheme for theatres. He worked on advertising films for theatrical distribution, and from there became a free-lance film editor, doing stints for some of the top film companies. His creative talent drew the notice of Uncle Sam, who contracted him to set up the first film unit for the OWL After a threeyear hitch in the Army, he went back to free lancing on a large scale. Prior to forming his own company, he did some pioneer film work for NBC-TV, was on the production staft^ for several features released through United Artists, and worked for Bray Studios. HENRY "DOC" BROWN, president of Atlas Television Corp., has been in the motion picture business for over 25 years, and has experience as an exhibitor, owner of a chain of theatres, producer of motion pictures, and head of an international distributing organization. *'Doc," a graduate of both CCNY and Columbia, founded Atlas in 1948, and collected more than 350 film comedies, editing them to quarter-hour lengths so that program managers could use them freely. Since then Atlas has gone into new production, and has several filmed program projects under way. '*Doc" is a member of the board of the National Television Film Council, a director of the Allied Theatre Owners of New Jersey, and a Motion Picture Pioneer. m^wM ISIDORE LINDENBAUM, president of Filmcraft Productions, is one of Hollywood's leading makers of filmed TV productions. He attended UCLA and Harvard Law School and has long been recognized as one of the top experts in the television film field. He entered the TV medium in 1949, when he formed a corporation to explore Doctor Ferenz Fodor's inventions, which since have been responsible for many advances in TV. While always feeling that TV was his medium, "Lindy" still maintains a large practice at law and at one time he was a pharmacist, and is still licensed. His Filmcraft company is on a par with the biggest in Hollywood and at present owns its own large studio and took over the first motion picture theatre in Hollywood for exclusive use for filmed T"\^ productions. , LOUIS HUOT, vice-president in charge of client relations for Five I Star Productions of Hollywood, has had wnde experience both in I newspaper work and film production. For five years he was vice ( president and European manager for Press Wireless, Inc. He represented the Chicago Tribune in Europe for two years, headquartering 'in Paris, and has worked for numerous other papers, including the Montreal Gazette. In film production, Louis has produced public relations movies for such clients as the Prudential Insurance Co., iPontiac Motors, and the Block Drug Co. of New Jersey. He has I made movies on new weapons and techniques for the Army Signal Corps. In his position at Five Star Productions of Hollywood, he suprevises the production of both TV commercials and institutionals. EDWARD HOCHHAUSER, JR., vice-president of Muzak Corporation, vice-president and general manager of its Associated Program Service Division, and vice-president and director of merchandising for Muzak Corporation Franchise Division, initially joined APS as a field representative in 1951. He started in local radio in 1941, and in '46 joined the newly formed Transcriptions Sales, Inc., where he was successively account executive, sales manager, F]astern Division manager, and vice-president. After joining APS he was rapidly made sales manager, general manager, and in January of 1953, he was elected vice-president of Muzak. The 37-year-old Mr. Hochhauser is an alumnus of the University of Virginia, and a resident of Merrick, Long Island. 1077
