These power tubes, however, cannot be run efficiently from the ordinary B-power supply since greater voltages and greater currents are required. The use of high voltage is necessary to operate the tubes at their greatest efficiency, and these tubes require more B current than others which are used as detectors and preliminary amplifiers.
It must not be supposed that because the Raytheon B-supply units will furnish the requisite power for semi-power tubes that they will not be effective on lower powered sets, for this is not the case. What the Raytheon does is to have available the maximum amount of power that any set will require, and whether it is used at all times or not it is always ready at an instant's notice.
Installing a Raytheon B-supply will make available in a silent, efficient form the power that is necessary for the clang of cymbals, the zoom of the viol, the trill of the piccolo and the touch of the famous virtuoso and make one's receiver a source of perpetual delight. Owners of receivers which have been cramped for power, or which have been fed from noisy critical sources of voltage will be amazed at the change which takes place when a source is substituted which has sufficient voltage and sufficient current.
