It serves the Capitol District of New York State — covering 6589 square miles — 163^2 hours daily, 18^ hours Saturdays. Owned and operated by the Capitol Broadcasting Co., Inc. — devoted solely to FM — it is the first commercial FM station unaffiliated with any broadcast interest. W47A is also the first station in the country to get a construction permit from the F.C.C. for STL equipment. It will operate on 331 megacycles with W2XEO as the call letters. This studio-to-transmitter equipment is being built by G.E. and will soon be installed. General Electric offers the only comprehensive line in FM today — broadcast and relay transmitters, receivers, tubes, frequency and modulation monitors, highgain turnstile antennas, and crystals.
