First began in radio with Billy Merrin's Commanders, and recently broadcast regularly from Oddenino's in late night dance music programmes. Recreations: Snooker, golf and crosscountry running.

Lived most of his early life in Robin Hoods Bay. Served in R.F.C. in East Africa in first world war; M.C. and four times mentioned in despatches. First book was " Flying and Sport in East Africa," followed by various thrillers. First literary success came with " Three Fevers," followed by " Phantom Lobster," " Foreigners," " Sally Lunn," " Love in the Sun." Then wrote autobiography " So Many Loves " and a play version of " Sally Lunn " produced in 1946 by the Arts Council in West Riding theatres. Married, five children.
