Pursuit, CBS’ new one -hour taped drama program for Wednesdays, 8-9pm NYT, has had its debut set back to Oct 22. The program is setting a production schedule that will permit the taping to be done about two and a half weeks before airing so that there will always be two programs ready when the season does get underway. As an interim program, because of the delayed debut, CBS is scheduling another Studio One kine for Oct 15, "Dead of Noon," which starred Richard Boone and Cameron Prud-homme. . Mel Allen and Curt Gowdy will be the commentators for NBC's telecasts of the World Series baseball games, which start in Milwaukee on Oct 1. Perry Smith will produce the telecasts for NBC, . . ABC’s "Operation Daybreak", the expansion of live programming starting Oct 13 will include the following programs: All Monday thru Friday: 11-11 :30am NYT, Day in Court, presenting dramatic re-creations of civil and criminal court trials, produced by Station KABC-TV(LA), originating in LA with Pete Robinson as exec producer. 11 :30am-12 :30pm NYT, The Peter Lind Hayes Show, starring Hayes and his wife, Mary Heal y, and performing guests in informal entertainment, produced by Frank Musiello for Peter Lind Hayes, Inc., originating in NY. 12:30-lpm NYT, Mother ' s Day, present¬ ing a panel of three mothers as experts in the practical mechanics of homemaking, to be produced by Carl Jampel for Shamrock Productions, Inc., originating in NY. 1-1:30 pm NYT, The Llberace Show, with the star playing the piano, informally chatting with guests and acting as host for the program, supporxed by Steve Dunne as announcer, to be produced by Gil Rodin for Don Fedderson Productions, and originating in LA. 2-2 :30pm NYT, Chance for Romance, will have John Cameron Swayze as host, introducing mature men to mature women in a friendship program. 3-3:30psi NYT, Beat the Clock, with Bud Collyer as m.c. comes to a new net for a run on the air that started in March, 1950* A seventh program, to fill the l:30-2pm NYT spot, has not been con¬ firmed as yet. The more than 17 sponsors who have signed up for the new ABC daytime spread will have a unique sponsorship pattern in that they will not confine their sponsorships to one specific program (some will), but they may exchange spots with the other ad¬ vertisers to reach audiences on any of the programs. Herb Sussan has been named director of special programs for NBC in NY, reporting to Robert Lewine, v.p., TV network programs . Ed Roberts, former Eastern story editor for CBS, started teaching a course last Saturday at the Yale School of Drama as visiting critic in TV playwriting (Drama 23).
