FILMED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SOUTH AFRICA. won Ye >) ate AN NVWLiCOsyv a BILLY ALLEN KNOCKED OUT BY ALF SIMMONS AT THE JOHANNESBURG TOWN HALL, Billy Allen (of Durban), Feather-weight Champion of South Africa, was knocked out in the eighteenth round by Alf Simmons (of London), in a contest staged in the Johannesburg Town Hall last Saturday evening. The fight was filmed by artificial light, used in this connection for the first time in South Africa. The lighting arrangements are described on page 8. Of the pictures here reproduced, the one in the centre, of Major Wilkinson counting out Allen, is from a “‘ still’’ photograph. The upper and lower pictures are enlargements from the film, and show (above) Allen breaking through Simmons’ guard and (below) the actual knock-out blow being struck. The small pictures at the sides are prints from the actual film itself. The film, a big success, is B being shown at the Johannesburg Empire this week. , .
