PLAYERS SUBPOENAED
Last week many comedy players received summons into the Jazz court at the New Strand Cafe at Venice, and so Thursday night court was held with Hon. Hank Mann as justice, and believe me he doled out some pretty stiff sentences on the gathered offenders. Everybody had a fine time and promised to keep on having a good one. This place is giving the players a good time every other Thursday night with a special event.
RIDDLES
And Nell Shipman ripped out all the insides of her car in her back yard and now she’s trying to put it all together. This world is right topsy-turvy.
One juvenile lead can’s go to the front. He’s too young, and besides, Vivian Martin wants Paul Willis in her own company.
Theatre was jammed full to see Charlie Ray do his “Clodhopper Dance,” Wednesday night. He smiled and smiled, and tried to break into the noise making of hands so’s he could talk, and then his feet stuttered too. So the people laughed and clapped and let him go. Mighty nice boy, that chap.
There is a big noise down at Millers. Fred M. is Preparing to let the dear public see Valesky Suratt in “The Siren.” Some noise too.
DIGBY BELL DEAD
NEW YORK, June 21. — Digby Valentine Bell, an actor, died yesterday at a private sanitarium in this city. He was 68 years of age and was one of the best known actors on the American stage.
O. KILLUM
Bessie Barriscale says she likes her new studio just fine, and on the phone invited us out to spend an afternoon watching the Paralta cameraman grind. His name is De Vinne. He used to work for Ince. He is good !
Now Gladys Brockwell wants to be a director. Well, I’ll wish her luck in anything.
Jackie Saunders is going east. Her director, Sherwood Mac Donald, will then look for another directorship.
Jack Laver, who used to publish a magazine here, has returned from a trip to the east. Everybody knows Jack and his smile.
Lookout for a funeral! Charlie Avery said he’d drop dead if he saw his name in this paper, ever. Hope to goodness nobody shows this to him, just tell it to him. He swore he’d die! We doan wanna hav to measure Charlie for a coughin.
George Walsh in chicken feathers-er-no, not that kind with tar trimmings, just frilly girl clothes — d’ju go to see him-her-in “Some Boy?”

WALLIE REID IS PROUD DADDY
Three cheers for Wallie Reid!
Tuesday a new leading man appeared at the home of Wallace Reid in the form of a ten-pound boy, regular bouncing, smiling baby boy. Latest reports from the Lasky lot are that Wallie is going around about ten feet off the ground. Wallie says mother and son are doing nicely, and in return we say many happy wishes to the happy little family.
