Every person who attended did a little bit toward the betterment of conditions over there. Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks and many film notables were present. Credit for getting the large moving picture contingent was due to W. E. Wing and his daughter, Miss Mable.
SELZNICK COMES BACK; WILL SUE CLARA K. YOUNG
Last week Clara Kimball Young started suit against Lewis J. Selznick to recover alleged lost profits and earnings, and this week the famous producer started suit to stop her from appearing in any films other than those of the corporation which bears her name. This is a counter attack to hers of last week. It is alleged that since March Miss young has received $25,000 for which she has done no work. When seen at a beach dance-dining palace, while on her coast trip recently, she had several thousand dollars worth of “blue-whites” on her fingers anyway.
LEADING LADY SUES SELIG IS SHE MONKEYING?
Suit was filed in the federal courts in Chicago, this week, for $200,000, against Col. Wm. N. Selig, of the Selig Polyscope Co. The suit was started by a leadink lady called Sally, who is a fat and sassy chimpanzee, and she is loaded with evidence in the shape of stills of herself. Sally charges the well known producer with neglect and inattention. She claims that he failed to live up to his part of their contract for the production and marketing of features in which she starred.
