We use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) during our scanning and processing workflow to make the content of each page searchable. You can view the automatically generated text below as well as copy and paste individual pieces of text to quote in your own work.

Text recognition is never 100% accurate. Many parts of the scanned page may not be reflected in the OCR text output, including: images, page layout, certain fonts or handwriting.

144 SPOTLIGHT 3. Rings and Shadows Show in Spotlight Beam (a) — Improper setting of carbons. Adjust and test. (b) — Wrong style, grade, or size of carbons — especially with A.C. An A.C. spotlight requires much care in choice of carbons and is likely to be hard to handle. Be sure that the carbons are not at fault. 4, Poor Lighting With Spot (a) — In ordinary arcs lack of brilliancy is due to improper choice of carbons. (b) — With A.C. the amperage materially affects the quality of the light, as also does the type of carbons used. Correct amperage and carbon grade and size and type should be chosen for the best conditions.
