Plot: A doughboy about to go overseas, gets news that he has 72 hours leave and has inherited a fortune. Being a former swing band member, he immediately gets engaged to marry the singer with the band, only to learn that in order to get his fortune he must marry a rich girl. He has a time solving his problem, but everything is settled satisfactorily before he leaves for overseas. Producer-Director, Tim Whelan. CHATTERBOX (Rep.) ComedyWithMusic. Principals: Martha O'Driscoll, John Hubbard, Tom Brown, Ruth Terry, Charles Smith. Plot: The jitter-bugging, jive-pattering students of a college, revolting against the obnoxious numbers instead of names system, play a hoax on the psychology professor. They submit papers from a mythical student. When their hoax backfires, they get a Broadway jive jane to impersonate the student. Director, Al Rogell. GET HEP TO LOVE (Univ.) DramaWith-Music. Principals: Gloria Jean, Jane Frazee, Robert Paige, Cora Sue Collins. Plot: A sensational young soprano runs away from her money-grabbing aunt because she yearns for a normal youthful life. She gets mixed up with a young couple who are near a split. They adopt her and under her influence things smooth out. When her aunt finally finds her and tries to get her back, the young couple get the court to turn her over to their custody. Director, Charles Lament. OFF THE BEATEN TRACK (Univ.) Comedy-Drama. Principals: Ritz Brothers, Carol Bruce, Dick Foran, Sonny Dunham and Band, Johnny Downs, Grace McDonald. Plot: Two guest stars at a Summer Theatre, are murdered, so the Ritz Brothers are hired to replace them. They steal the show and during the proceedings the culprit is caught. Director, Edward F. Cline. JUNGLE SIREN (Prod.) Drama. Principals: Ann Corio, Buster Crabbe, Evelyn Wahl, Paul Bryar, Mil Kibbee. Plot: Two Americans serving in the Free French Army Engineering Corps, are sent to a native village in Africa to make a preliminary survey for an airfield. Their every move is thwarted by enemy agents . . . even their lives are threatened. However, with the help of a white girl living there, they manage to successfully complete their mission. Director, Sam Newfield. NAVY COMES THROUGH (RKO) Drama. Principals: Pat O'Brien, George Murphy, Jane Wyatt, Jackie Cooper, Desi Arnaz, Max Baer, Carl Esmond, Frank Jenks. Plot: This is the story of the exploits and life of navy gun crews aboard merchant ships. Plot: The head of England's Intelligence Inner Council enlists the aid of Basil Rathbone, io help find and destroy the band of German super saboteurs who are scourging Etigland. His investigation takes him into the meaner section of London and from there the trail leads right back to the head of the Council ... a German actor who had taken the place of the real head, who had been murdered.
