Plot: A town is being terrorized by a gang of bandits who take their orders from the president of the bank. This man is after a gold mine on which he holds a mortgage. The Three Mesquiteers are called in. The resemblance of one to the leader of the gang, causes plenty of trouble before the entire gang are rounded up and the resemblance noted. Director, Lester Orlebeck. HE HIRED THE BOSS (20th-Fox) Comedy. Principals: Stuart Erwin, Vivian Blaine, Evelyn Venable, Hugh Beaumont. Plot: A hard-working honest bookkeeper, who has been trying to get up enough courage to ask for a raise so he can get married, suddenly finds things reversed. He becomes rich through some "bad" property given him for a loan. With this money he buys the company he works for, gives the boss a job. Director, Thomas Z. Loring. LAW OF THE BADLANDS (Col.) Western. Principals: Russell Hayden, Bob Wills, Dub Taylor, Lucille Lambert. Plot: Through the identification of water-soaked money stolen by a group of outlaws, a young cowpuncher is able to find the gang. Their plans were to force the owner of a ranch to sell, because they knew the railroad wanted to buy a right of way through his property. Director, William Berke. ANDY HARDY STEPS OUT (MGM) Drama. Principals: Mickey Rooney, Lewis Stone, Fay Holden, Sara Haden, Ann Rutherford. Plot: Just before leaving for college Mickey Rooney helps his father solve a case in which a mother and son are involved. He also manages to get himself in a spot when he lets the fellow whom he expects to sell his jaloppy to, use it and he has an accident. However, all his troubles disappear when on the train he meets a beautiful young girl, on her way to the same college. Director, George Seitz. KING OF THE STALLIONS (Mono.) Drama. Principals: Chief Thundercloud, Chief Yowlachie, Dave O'Brien, Barbara Felker. Plot: Ranchers accuse Indians of stealing their horses, when in reality thev are being "rustled" by a crooked gang for sale to the government. When a rancher is killed, his foreman who is accused of the crime and a young Indian who is accused of stealing the horses, find the guilty man and clear themselves of all blame. ProducerDirector, Edward Finney. TOMORROW WE LIVE (P.R.C.) Drama. Prmcipals: Ricardo Cortez, Jean Parker, Emmett Lynn, William Marshall, Roseanne Stevens. Plot: A psychopathic criminal has under his control an old man who runs a lunchroom, thus involving him in many unlawful activities. The old man's daughter in trymg to help her father, falls into his hands also. But, her sweetheart, a lieutenant in the army, puts the police on the criminal's trail Director, Edgar G. Ulmer. TEXAS TO BATAAN (Mono.) Western. Prmcipals: John King, David Sharpe, Max Terhune, Marjorie Manning. Plot: The Range Busters are selected to take an order of horses to the Philippines. Before leaving they capture three spies, but one, a Japanese, escapes. On reaching the Philippines, they run across him again and through him learn u ^ neighboring ranch owner in Texas, is the Axis contact. Back in the U. S. they get him too. Director, Robert Tansey.
