NAUGHTY NINETIES (Univ.) Comedy. Principals: Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Alan Curtis, Lois Collier, Rita Johnson, Henry Travers. Director, Jean Yarbrough. Plot: A showboat captain unwittingly falls victim to a trio of gamblers and is forced to let them use his boat as a pleasure barge. One of the gamblers falls for the captain's daughter and, with the help of two of the boat's former troupe of actors, wins back the ship for the captain and the girl for himself.
SAN ANTONIO (WB) (Color) Drama. Principals: Errol Flynn, Alexis Smith, S. Z. Sakall, Victor Francen, Florence Bates, John Litel. Director, David Butler. Plot: Refusing to be kept from what is honestly his, a Texas cattleman leads a crusade against the rustlers who have overrun the San Antonio area. He is aided by an actress playing at the outlaw leader's theatre, but does not realize this, at first believing she is working against him. By gaining the position of town marshal he is able to expose the villains and liring them to justice.
AND THEN THERE WERE NONE (UA) Mystery. Principals: Barry Fitzgerald, Walter Huston, Louis Hayward, Roland Young, June Duprez, Sir C. Aubrey Smith. Director, Rene Clair. Plot: Ten unacquainted people are invited by ruse to spend a holiday on an island off the coast of England. They find no host, but get an inkling of coming tragedy from a voice which accuses them all of unpunished past crimes. Through that evening and the next day almost all of the guests meet death until the two left are able to solve the mystery and save themselves.
THIS LOVE OF OURS (WB) Drama. Principals: John Garfield, Eleanor Parker, Dane Clark, John Ridgely, Charles Drake. Director, Delmer Daves. Plot: When war is declared, a young mechanic enlists in the Marines and leaves a ring behind for his girl. On Guadalcanal he is blinded when his machine-gun crew is surrounded by Japanese. Evacuated to the states, he finds he is blind forever. He refuses to return to his girl; he does not want her to be saddled with him. S^e makes him understand that they belong t6gether.
CAPTAIN EDDIE (Fox) Drama. Principals: Fred MacMurray. Lynn Bari, James Gleason, Charles 'Bickford, Mary Philips, Darryl Hickman. Director, Lloyd Bacon. Plot: When Captain Eddie Rickenbacker and his companions are forced down in the midPacific, during the present war, they all take to life rafts. While they are adrift for 19 days, lacking supplies of food and water, he keeps up the morale of the men with his faitli. He remembers the more exciting episodes of his life. At last they are rescued.
