E-46 SHOWMEN'S TRADE REVIEW, November 9, 1946 File for Reference Here reproduced by permission is the ''old reliable"^— the Bansch & Lomb table that shows at a glance what lens to use for any length of throw and any desired size of screen image. Keep it on hand. To use the table, select in the top row of figures the one that most nearly corresponds with the distance from lens to screen in your theatre. Then run down the column under it until you find a pair of figures that represent the width and height of the screen image yon want. Trace straight left along that line to the extreme left-hand column, where you will find the equivalent focus needed to enable a lens to give you that size picture at that distance. Order your lenses accordingly. PROJECTION TABLE Showing Size of Screen Images at Dif event Distances <. Wide-angle projection, greater magnification, and improved image quality are claimed for this new Super-Snaplite coated projection lens, which has the exceptional rated speed of f 1.9. Product of Kollmorgen Optical Corporation, the new lens is made in focal lengths from 2" through 5" in 54" steps. The aluminum-alloy mounting is one piece, permanently and hermetically sealed so the lens need never be taken apart for cleaning. Virtually perfect flatness of field is claimed, to provide screen images as sharp at the corners as at the center. (#30). When re-enameling radiators, first go over them vigorously with a wire brush to take off all loose rust and paint. Then wipe them with turpentine or benzine and apply radiator enamel according to directions, remembering that thin coats wiU resist chipping better than thick ones. In selecting the color of enamel to use, choose one slightly lighter in tone than you want it to be, to allow for the minor darkening effect produced when the radiator heats up. The radiator should be cold until the last coat of paint is thoroughly dry. (#31). SIZES GIVEN ARE TO THE NEAREST TENTH A FOOT A new blacklight lamp which can be plugged into any 110-volt a.c. outlet is announced by Switzer Brothers. (#31).
