Loew circuit, is reported with the Paramount publicity staff in New York ; Fred Jackson, cashier, Pike Drive-In, Newington, Conn. ; William Hawlings, doorman at Loew's Poli Palace, Hartford, Wayne Casey, doorman at the Center, William Hoyt, doorman at the Allyn and Frank Albini at the Regal. Bodie Gould, former refreshment stand manager at the Pike Drive-In, is the father of a baby boy. . . . Assistant Norman Levinson at the local Loew's Poli visited in New Haven; ditto Relief Assistant Walter iChesky of Loew's Poli, Springfield, Mass. . . . Loew's Poli Palace Projectionist Al Nelson is vacationing in the south with Linus Albee filling in. . . . Leonard Sampson of the Crown, New Haven, was in Hartford and said he plans to visit England. . . . Perakos Circuit Relief Manager Earl Hannah won a television set in a drawing at Jewett City on his first day filling in the State's vacationing manager. The New England Warner Club elected John Matthews, purchasing agent for the New England Zone, New Haven, president ; Jeannette Shield, vice-president ; Joseph DeLouise, treasurer ; Rhoda Epstein, secretary ; James A. Bracken, chairman of contributions and loans. On the board of directors are Bracken, Francis Flood and C. P. O'Toole. . . . The iPerakos circuit has opened its 1,000-seat Beverly at Bridgeport. . . . Albert R. Lessow, assistant manager Loew's Poli, Waterbury, called on friends here. Former Hartford Strand Projectionist Euler B. Lane and wife have gone to Florida to live. Local Warner Strand Assistant Manager Charlie Atamian and his bride, former candy girl, Janet Chicano, were in an auto accident in Wyoming, returning from a California honeymoon, and had to make the rest of the trip to Hartford by train. Dead : John Monaha, 73, former actor, died in Norwalk. . . . Bridgeport Loew's Poli Doorman Henry York, of virus pneumonia. VANCOUVER Bob Owen of the Odeon Hastings stafif was married recently to Shirley Raddison and the couple is honeymooning south of the border. . . . Jessie Stabor, who came here from Winnipeg and joined SARO, has switched to 20th Century-Fox where she will be contract clerk. . . . Empire-Universal Canadian General Manager Alfred Perry is in Vancouver on his annual check-up. Frank Boothe, formerly Odeon manager here, is now operating a cafe in North Vancouver next to the Odeon Theatre. . . . Odeon Publicty Head Larry Graburn was here from his Toronto headquarters meeting with all local Odeon managers. . . . Attempt of Aliberta theatre operators to obtain permission to operate theatres with one projectionist in a booth is being eyed by British Columbia exhibitors. Odeon theatres has switched weekly pre-views from the Dunbar to the Park Theatre and have changed the days from Monday to Wednesday nights. ST. LOUIS COLUMBUS Offices of the F & Y Construction Company and Academy Theatres, both headed by Leo Yassenof?, have been moved across the street from their old location to new quarters rebuilt from an old residence, former offices giving place to an addition to Grant Hospital. . . . Loew's Ohio and Broad have reverted to Thursday openings after changing programs on Fridays for several months. Managers Carl Rogers and John DeBenedetto say the new policy will be of indefinite duration. Televising of the Ohio StateWisconsin football game at Madison, Wis., picked up via coaxial and micro-wave relay, materially lowered grosses at local theatre's Saturday matinees. . . . University Theatre Manager-Organist Roger Garrett will give an hour's program over the new organ installed at the South High School on Nov. L Organ is dedicated to pupils of the schools who lost their lives in past wars. Two for One At the Twrin Outdoor — the drive-in five miles south of Milwaukee, with nearly 2,000 car places — offered a twin feature, showing "Stampede" and "Rose _ anna McCoy" during the week ending Oct. 22. Legislation, 16-mm. competition, television, local checking and other exhibitor problems will be on the agenda at the annual convention of the Motion Picture Theatre Owners of St. Louis, Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois at the Hotel Chase here on Nov. 7 and 8. President Tom Edwards will preside and there will be prominent speakers at the concluding banquet. A number of prominent Hollywood stars are expected to attend. RKO Salesman Jack Hynes was elected president of St. Louis Lodge No. 19. Colosseum of Motion Picture Salesmen at its annual meeting Oct. 22. Sharp, Princess, Gideon, Mo., is fishing on Lake Wappapello in the Ozarks. . . . Lester H. Fettit, Ava, Mo., has gone to the Mayo Clinic for a check-up. . . . Bud Mullaney, Ricky, Mattoon, 111., has returned there following a medical going over at St. John's Hospital, St. Louis. . . . Mid-Central Allied Vice-President Jefif Jefferis and Secretary-Treasurer Hugh Graham went to Minneapolis for the Allied convention. Sam Shapin, Warner Bros. N. Y. office, is helping in the local exchange while Booker Ada Connors is vacationing in Chicago. . . . George Phillips of the Screen Guild exchange attended, the Realart meeting in New York. . . . Paramount Assistant Sales Manager E. K. O'Shea spent a week here at the local branch and called on Fanchon and Marco Executive Harry C. Arthur, recently back from the west coast. . . . Eagle Lion Telephone Operator Rochelle Gorelick, daughter of Screen Guild's Herman Gorelick, will wed George A. Cohn of National Screen's accessory department next May 28. Dead : Mrs. Ruby Robb Hoban, mother-inlaw of Paramount Salesman Bill Sharpe. Interment was in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, East St. Louis, 111. LOS ANGELES Lou Berman's new 650-car "Big Sky" Drivein Theatre at Monrovia, Calif., had its gala opening on Oct. 20 with a reception in the afternoon for friends in the industry. . . . Simon Lazarus is remodeling his Los Angeles Century Theatre. . . . Al Hanson has closed his Bellflower at Bellflower, Calif., for remodeling. House will reopen as the Nubel. Western Amusement Co. closed the Avalon at Catalina Island for the winter on Oct. 23 with its Riviera opened on Oct. 29, to replace the larger Avalon until spring. . . . Principal Theatres has taken over Dave Rector's house, the Lenox, at Lenox. They will also operate the Cornell in Burbank, now being built by Maloof and Reckas. Harry Moscowitz, of Loew's theatre department is here from the east for a few days in
