Every once in a while a newspaper reporter lelivers himself of a dissertation on the per tidious practice followed by patrons of coming to the theatre late and disturbing those who are already witnessing the performance. Sometimes such an article ig a spark that kindles the fire which leads to the abolition of this practice through an edict of the local manager. The preventive means usually employed has been that of keeping late arrivals standing until the curtain is lowered. But a method has never been prescribed, to our knowledge, for keeping the people in the theatre until the curtain bas fallen on the last scene. The habit of rushing out while the performance is still on is equally annoying and just as unmannerly. Managers will do well to seek a means of preventing the latter practice as well as the former.
