CONEY’S CLASSY ACTS.
The current is one of the classy weeks in entertainment at Coney Island, Cincinnati, and contains variety enough to sult all tastes. Rudolph and Lena, in picturesque costumes, are classified as Tyrolean yodlers, and their wellble nding volees gain for them much well-deserved Spaulding, Dupuee and Ted, their clever dog, give a “carnival of variety’? which is cruly entertaining. The team sings, dances, talks and tumbles its way into the hearts of its audience, and the pretty little canine does about everything its masters do.
Violet Gleason, clad in buttons, gold lace, and all, proves her ability as the real “Girl From Happyland."’ Montrose McCoy sings the old songs with a vim and zest that catches and keeps the attention of his hearers.
At the Free Arena this week Manager Girard bas two big atiractions which are filling the big, roomy grandstand at each performance, Charles Johnson appears to feel as safe on the high, tight, bounding wire as though he was on terra firma, and does many balancing tricks that make the heart beat faster.
The big feature of the week at Coney is the daring, death-defying act of Sensational: Smitheon. Who does not seem to care a whit whether his bicyele is in the air or striking the long drive downward on the frame toboggan. Smithson speeds downward at a terrific rate, and for an instant his machine hangs in the alr and gets you wondering whether he'll go through the gap er touch the other side. In just a breath, thongh, he lands safely and smilingly receives the burst of applause which greets him.
Lionel Legare, the prince of equilibrists, made a big hit last week at Coney with his mammoth eviral tower. There are other splral towers, but only one Legare. The ascent and descent on

For many weeks past the management of old Coney has been busy with preparations for the flarvest Home Days, an event which has been a fixture for the past twenty-three years. This is the twenty-fourth annual Harvest Home and Fair, which embraces the dates of August 25, 26, | and 27, promises to eclipse all former occ “134 in the variety of entertainment offered and the size of displays. Poultry exhibits, produce, fruits and woman's handicraft are among the | features to be enjoyed. The Baby Show, which comes Saturday afternoon, promises much rival| ty, but the prize always goes to the handsomest ! one, as the committee of gentlemen, competent, of course, shall decide.
August 30 will be the kiddies’ day, bunt for the 2,000 candy eggs hiuuen will be truly exciting. Amusement Manager Girard has this in hand and will distribute prizes to the/ ones lucky enough to discover the ten eggs containing the slips entitling them to the gifts. To five girls will be awarded a winter coat, dress, shoes, watch and ring. The fortunate boys will receive an overcoat, suit of clothes, shoes, watch and ring.
