Comedy Released March 20. A pretty love story of old Spain, in which an impetuous young man wins, despite the objection of very careful parents. writes a letter to the parents of Zelda, a beautiful young Spanish girl, regretting that he €am-not pay them the promised visit, but will send his son. Jose, instead. Jose arrives and |is at once smitten with the charms of the | beautiful Zelda, Zelda is not indifferent to the attentions paid her. and resolves to indulge in a harmless flirtation. Her mother inaugurates a system of esplonage that is very inconvenienr for the levers. Zelda has a friend about her own age, who resembles her very much, so she decides to take her into her confidence. Rosa is dressed to represent Zelda, and the girls wait results. So clever is the disguise that Jose kisses her before he finds his mistake. Jose | proves himself to be somewhat of a resourceful young man, so he induces Zelda to accompany him to the seashore, where he threatens to throw her into the roaring torrent unless the parents | consent to an early marriage. The parents, of course, consent, This picture is also characterized by much of the beautiful) scenery which has made the pictures taken in Cunha so Intensely interesting CAIN Eclair Drama. Length, 790 feet. Jack and Peter are both employed at the farm ef a widow, whose daughter, Nellie, is in love | with Jack, and has obtained the consent of her | mother to their marriage. Peter becomes jealous when he learns of the engagement, and in }a fit of jealous rage. mortally wounds his rival, The body is found by some neighbors, and at the news Nellie becomes prestrate with grief. |The blame is placed on an old beggur, who happens to be prowling about the neighborhood. Peter then asks for the hand of his victim's fiancee, but meets a blunt refusal. This proves too much for him, and he leaves the place in remorse. He turns toward the lake, still haunted by the vision of the crime that he has committed, and imagines that he sees the form of Jack beckoning to him. His mind forsakes |} him, and in another moment he has plunged | headlong to his watery grave. A good, clear. | dramatic story, with some excellent acting. THE ROCK CLIMBERS. Eclair. HIS MIND’S TRAGEDY. Released March 18. Dr, EB. Edwards, of Rockaway City, L. L, is entertaining friends at dinner, and is unexpectediy called away to attend a little boy who uas been Lurt. Un bis way be is bit by an automobile, and is himself seriously hurt and taken to the hospital. ‘Three months later Le is discharged from the hospital, but his mind bas become a perfect blank. His wife and daughter have been searching in vain for some clue of the father. Finally they put an advertisement in the paper, offering a reward, and receive in answer a note from the hospital that a man aun Powers. Dramatic. swering Dr. Edwards’ description was released from there a short time betere. His mind is still deranged, and he turns burglar, and, strange to say, comes to the very apartment in which he lived, and starts to ransack it, when one of the family who had not yet retired hears the nolse and gives the alurm. A fierce struggie ensues, but when he sees his wife and little girl his reason returns to him, and all ends happily. The automobile accident scene in the first part of this picture is very realistic. OGALLAH. Powers. Drama. Another of those famous Indian pictures for which the Powers Company is famous, bout Release March | Don Gomez | hardly up to their usual high standard. Th: cast employed in this picture is much smaller than is generally used by them, but as the stor) is a simple one and the action and the scener wel! carried out, we find it quite as interest ing as many of the large vast pictures. Thr lightning in the scene where the Indian is es ecaping along the river in the twilight is effec tive enough to carry this picture to success, t say nothing of the other scenes in the jungle» and underbrush, which are also quite well done JUST KIDS. Powers. Comedy. Released Maret 21. Two very clever and amusing children for» the background for this picture. They quarre at meal time and are sent upstairs until they can be good, They soon get tired of this con finement and start a pillow fight between them selyes which is very funny, and in a few minutes have the room covered with feathers. Next the) get hold of a big hammer and start pounding on the floor, and knock all the plaster down in the dining room, where their parents are having lunch. The chase which follows whew the father goes after the children, and the complications into which he finds himself are amusing. This picture should prove very pop ular with the children. A TRIP THROUGH CHRISTIANIA. Seenic. Released March 25, A very instructive and interesting picture ir here presented and will give one an excellent idea of the customs and scenery of picturesque Sweden. We first find a regiment of soldiers on the field, handling large field guns. then we are carried by the camera to the scenes of the peasants drawing water from the wells, am entting wood, and the scenes in the market places on market day are very interesting Their celebrations and festivals; their drivethrough the boulevards; their clean and wel) kept business streets; their shipping and fishing scenes along the water front; their harbor wit) their yacht clubs; their beautiful park system with swans swimming in the pools and the littl Powers children at play, sll tend to make this a vers pleasing picture. THE PENNILESS PRINCE. Imp Drama Released March 23, Prince Gustave, a young German of noble birth. with plenty of blue blood in his veins but a bankrupt, alights from an ocean liner ir Havana, Cuba, to try and earn a livelihood in & new country. He reads an advertisement in a paper that help is wanted on a tobacco plan tation, and he applies in person at the office of the superintendent for a job. At the request of + the daughter he is given a place in the field: with the rest of the laborers. On account of in creased business it is found necessary to pro mote some one to private secretary. Inez, the daughter of the grower, who has become infat uated with the handsome young nobleman, in duces her father to give him a chance. During his work.in the field he meets, Dolores, and ther is a mutual attachment between them which is quite agreeable. Inez mails Gustave a letter that he is wanted «at the office of the Germar consul. He is not fitted to visit the embassy by reason of his shabby clothing, but Dolores in her great love for him, goes to a hair dealer where she sacrifices her golden tresses to raise money for him. He is later visited by a repre. sentative from Germany, who informs him that he is now. the heir to vast estates. The consu congratulates him and the girl he has won. anc they walk away, leaving Inez disappointed anc desperate. The docking of the ocean liner ip the harbor of Havana, and the scenes on the to bacco plantation in Cuba, showing the process of curing tobacco, are very instructive, and should not be missed by any one who is inter ested in. or who enjoys beantiful tropical scen err.
