WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR OTHERS ON THE SUBJECT OF TICKET CADGING
Time and again letters are received by The Billboard from managers in various parts of the United States calling attention to and denouncing ticket cadging and methods to obtain
It is surprising how free managers are with their money, sending it to strangers, and, naturally, the defrauded manager urges that criticism of the methods be made and to ad
There are several ways to assist us in stopping the practice of ticket cadging. not to send money unless you know the party, and another way is to notify us just as soon as the manager fails to hear from the party employed.
The sentiment of The Billboard on ticket cadging is too well known to its readers to need any reiteration; what we want is more letters with suggestions similar to the following to assist and protect the worthy and honest performer:
Sir—I received your article on Ticket Cadging, and must say that that kind of trick makes it hard on the man that really will come on the show to work if he only had the So why can not arrangements be made so that the R. R. agent will only deliver up the ticket and keep baggage checks and send them to the manager of the show, sure no one who really wants a job is afraid to send the checks to the manager as good
The idea is a good one and might work out all right under certain conditions, but there is this disadvantage, it will not keep the ticket holder from filling an old trunk with worthless articles, thereby securing the ticket on the supposition that the contents of trunk are worth as much or more than the cost of the ticket.
In small towns and cities this plan might be carried out as far as the ticket agent Is concerned, but in the large cities it is a question if the agent would care to be involved in an extra responsibility of handling the checks.
