O’Brien, of O’Brien’s Famous Minstrels, arrived in Chicago April 12 from Savannah, Ga., where he had been with the No. 2 Show. Mr. O’Brien expected to remain in Chicago for sey eral days for the purpose of purchasing supplies. He reports that all three of his shows got off this season with a good start. Tom Christy’s Famous White Minstrels were booked to reopen, after a few weeks’ layoff, at George, Ia., on April 25. Mr. Christy closed the show at Electra, Tex., on March 22, on ac count of the severe illmess of Mrs. Christy's mother, and jumped to George, Ia., to be at the bedside of Mrs. Christy’s mother. Under the piloting of General Agent R. Emmet Kane the show had been playing to good business in both Texas and New Mexico. Kane started out from George, Ia., on April 19 to book the show through the Northwest. The company is a great fa vorite in many Northwestern States. This is Agent Kane's first season with Christy, he hav ing formerly been a talker on the Great Patter son Shows. The show this season will carry eighteen people and a ten-piece band. Al G. Field, of Field’s Greater Minstrels. has been urged to make the race for office of grand exalted ruler of the Grand Lodge of Elks. He formerly held the office of grand esteemed leading knight.
