WORTHAM’S WORLD'S BEST SHOWS St. Louis, June 4.—After one of the finest nights of business this season at Pine Biuff, Ark., Saturday Clarence A. Wortham’s World's Best Shows spent the greater part of Sunday getting off the baseball park in that city. The site is low and the ground inclined to be marsh y. But in spite of this they made a good run to St. Louis — put up on the circus grounds at Vandeventer and Laclede. A disconcerted ontties man set the rain gauges against the shows, however, and turned out one of the famous Mississippi Valley thunderstorms that sarted early in the evening and continued until late at night. Opening on Monday was deferred, and well that it was. It gave the showfolk a chance to get a good night's sleep and be fresh and ready for Tuesday. The wisdom of this was proven when the business of Tuesday was far in excess of the opening night on the same grounds two years ago. The night was ideal and throngs that knew the shows tu-ned out in full ferce. It kept the showfolk busy until midnight. Wednesday at noon there was a shower that upset only the pessimistic, because at two o'clock the clouds wee gone and the sun was shining. The welldrained Jot was as dry as if there had been QD) storm. The welcome accorded the shows indicates that St. Louis wil make — Visit memorable. A noticeable thing ab ut th ywwds is the high e lass of patronage the shows are enjoying. The most exclusive club and society circles in the city are attending. This clement comes to go thru everyth ug first class. This lot is really the first of the season big eno gh to let eve rything be shown off to full adva tage te ws are laid out as the manag: nt w a, have them. The midwar is a spa tome affal r, and yet is none too large for the Cl:rence A. Worth am Shows, Teaving St. Louis the shows will have several additional attractions, These will be or ganized while the shows ave here, and like! will take part in this engagement before ste close, BEVERLY WHITE (Press Rep.)
