CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS AND THE CINEMA her. When Bernadette is twenty, she is persuaded by the Dean of Lourdes to enter a convent, and there she has to forget about the fame she had in the outside world, and she becomes a Sister. At last it is discovered that she has a tumour on her knee, and tuberculosis of the bones, She had, therefore, been in great pain for many years, and had never said a word. She was also suffering from asthma, but this was known by everyone. Then the nuns are positive that the vision was the Virgin Mary, and that Bernadette was a messenger of God. This man was sent back to England by a ship. He went to Turkey. Another wanted to kill him so to try and dodge him, he went over to France. One evening he went out and when he returned the murderer was in his room, and he fired at this man. He soon recovered and the next few days he decided to go back quickly to his home. He started on the boat and discovered that the murderer was on it. Luckily he had a pistol. The murderer kept on spying on him and took his pistol. His friend lent him one. This friend planned for the escape of the gentleman. The man was to be in a certain cabin by eight o'clock and stay there until his friend 77
