CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS AND THE CINEMA My Views on Films i8.j.g. I like Comedies, Musicals and Thrillers. The Cat and the Canary was a thriller and a comedy. Some of the musicals I have seen are Yankee Doodle Dandy with James Cagney, My Gal Sal with Victor Mature and Rita Hayworth, For Me and My Gal with Judy Garland, Gene Kelly and George Murphy. One very good musical, that I remember very well was Show Business with Joan Davis, Constance Moore, George Murphy and Eddie Cantor. One of our best comedians is Tommy Trinder but in one film, he made, he was wasted and that film is Champagne Charlie which wasn't at all good. Last week Mummy, Daddy and I went to see Green-eyed Woman with Rosalind Russell and Fred Macmurray also Twilight on the Trail with William Boyd, which was a Western. About six months ago I saw Gone with the Wind with Olivia de Havilland, Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable and Leslie Howard, when Leslie Howard's plane crashed we lost a very good actor and producer. Some films are very creepy such as Rebecca v/ith Laurence Olovier and Joan Fontaine, who is a sister of Olivia De Havilland. Ginger Rogers is a good star, but one film she made, was really awful, it was called: Roxie Hart. You Were Never Lovelier was good but I still think Fred Astaire is better with Ginger Rogers and not too good with Rita Hayworth. Kitty Foyle was very good; Its cast was Ginger Rogers, James Craig and Dennis Morgan. There is a great rage in America over Frank Sinatra, but I think Bing Crosby is a much better crooner. Most of Bing Crosby's films have been the 'Road' series, such as The Road to Morocco and The Road to Zanzibar. Bob Hope is also in these films. Random Harvest was a very good film its stars were Greer Garson and Ronald Colman. Greer Garson has also starred with Walter Pidgeon in, Mrs. Miniver, Blossoms in the Dust and Madame Curie. America has a very good actress named Bette Davis, who has been in many films. Some are Now, Voyager, The Three Faces, The Great Lie also The Bride Came C.O.D. Well these are my likes and dislikes. I go to the films once a week, mostly on Sunday. Time taken, 30 min. 125
