THE ADULT AND THE CINEMA the public mind to the help of others less fortunate than themselves. I would just add that I do sit and sigh for the kind of clothes Ginger Rogers and Lana Turner wear and would also be influenced by the Hollywood home with the pretty curtains and marvellous white kitchens if Mr. Dalton would let me be. Age 27. Married. Librarian. 9. Miss . . . You ask have films ever influenced people. I would say frankly, no. For instance: The film, Road to Frisco. Ida Lupino. The part was defiantly (definitely?) too far fetched. No woman in thier (their) right sense of mind would think of murdering a perfectly good husband for a ordinary truck driver. Which I think gave Humphrey Bogart an understanding part. Also Ann Sheridan. In my dreams I have often seen myself play a part such as Cover Girl. Rita Hay worth. As I myself am a dancer I too see a possibility of someday making a carrear (career) . But Gene Kelly defiantly (definitely) not a lover. But a perfect dance partner. I hope you understand. It is just my view of what the actors take the wrong part. I am — Etc — Female. Age, i8yrs. Born. Oct. 1926. English. No Father, Mother. Both English. I am a dancer. (Ballroom) seven in family. Mother a dressmaker. Two sisters. Tap dancers. 10. Mrs. . . . The film that made a profound impression on me is not by any means a current one but one nevertheless that has remained in many people's memory like myself. To wit Sorrell and Son at the time of seeing this film which starred 'J. B. Warner' I was in 'Domestic Trouble' and feeling very morbid and miserable also extremely sorry for myself, after seeing Sorrell and Son I came away from the Cinema with a sense of shame and made up my mind to be more courageous, independant and understanding. The part of 'Sorrell' impressed me so much — such a strong character he had — noble and self sacrificing in spite of his continuous ups and downs and not troubling about false Pride which enabled him eventually to arise above all obstacles. I tried to do the same — in fact did and found my many vicissitudes gradually disappearing and so feel grateful to the film Sorrell 190
