THE ADULT AND THE CINEMA a handsome man picks a plain girl and vica versa. (The logical reason for this occurence seems to me that one partner can then enjoy the limelight unchallenged and always have a permanent devotee!) (2) Films very rarely appear in my dreams, unless they present an idea that appeals to me strongly such as the clever dancing of Zorina in any of her films, or the skating of Sonja Henie in any of her films; or arouse a deep emotional feeling such as the Story of Dr. WasselL A lone star can appear in a film occasionally. Usually the same one — Nelson Eddy. I don't suffer from repression, but I have liked him from the day he first stepped onto the screen, and his place in my affections has not yet been usurped or even threatened. Blonde men hold more attraction for me than a dark man ever could. (I myself am very dark, but fair-skinned.) A nightmarish situation will often penetrate a dream, such as The Cat and the Canary. Or a very lively film will make me feel brighter in myself and a dreamless sleep usually follows: or if I dream, it is to go through all the actresses antics myself. To quote any gay musical such as the 'Broadway Melody' series, or Step Lively etc. I can attain the limelight in a dream, which I can never hope to do in real life. I can also win a hero in a dream, which certainly wouldn't happen in real life. Born 1 92 1. British nationality. Profession. G.I. A. (Government Inspector) Fathers profession — Engineer. Sex. Female. 15. Mr. . . . I felt I had to write to you in responce (response) to the announcment (announcement) in Picturegoer. A few days ago I had a dream in which appeared a scene from Sahara. The scene was the one where the German plane is brought down, and the Nazi Pilot is captured by Humphrey Bogart, and four others, odd, since I saw the film some twelve months ago. The Song of Bernadette remained in my memory a long time after I had seen it. It brought me closer to the church and all it stands for. Maybe it was the acting, I think it was the whole picture itself, anyhow 196
