THE ADULT AND THE CINEMA in another. Therefore I like to dream of good films and sometimes I dream that there were more good films to dream about. Don't you? Have Films ever Influenced You in regard to Personal Decisions and Behaviour No films have never influenced me in the big moments of my life, only in the small things such as clothes. They do influence my manners and behaviour to a certain extent. I do not think that what is seen on the screen should have an effect on our personal decisions. After all things that happen on the screen do not always turn out as they do in real life. What goes on in the mind of a script writer cannot always be correct. He is only human. There is a right way and a wrong way of holding a cigarette; they do it the right way on the pictures and when I begin to smoke I shall do it like Katherine Hepburn in Philadelphia Story. Having been brought up well and having had a good education, I know good manners and how to behave, and therefore I do not need to be shown by actors and actresses on the screen. In fact more often than not the manners on the American Pictures are atrocious. Nearly every film has a love interest and if I let them all influence me when I fall in love, I should be in a nasty mess. They contra 215
